The Bangladesh Garment Manufacturers & Exporters Association (BGMEA) hosted a 3-day event titled “Bangladesh Apparel & Safety Expo, Chittagong” during 6-8 August 2015 at Radisson Blu Chittagong Bay View. This event has been conceived as a sequel to the Dhaka Apparel Summit which was successfully held in December 2014 with a wide range of international and national experts participating and contributing significantly to pursuing our vision of US$ 50 billion apparel export by 2021.
The Expo in Chittagong has been designed as a mega event which will hold four informative seminars to explore and tap the potential of our apparel industry with a view to transforming Bangladesh into a premium brand worldwide by 2021. Along with that there was expo showcasing modern machinery and advanced technology for the RMG industry, exhibiting internationally recognised safety equipment, displaying latest apparel products manufactured in Bangladesh. The strategic location of Chittagong as the country’s largest port city and commercial hub bears special significance to the event as our garment industry started its astounding journey in this port city in 1978.
Sudokkho’s Team Leader Mr Paul Weijers was the keynote speaker of the seminar of the expo titled “Training & Developing Skills for Strong, Sustainable & Balanced Growth”. The RMG industry is expanding rapidly and so does the need for skill development if we want to capture a bigger share of the market. With the vision of achieving $50 billion RMG export in the 50th anniversary of Bangladesh, we must plan and strategise according to our opportunities and potentials.
